How to Find Your IP Address Using a Browser

Identifying your public IP address is essential for various tasks like remote access, geolocation, or security reviews. Web browsers, in conjunction with online tools, make this process swift and straightforward. Here's how:

1. Open Your Preferred Web Browser:

This could be Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Safari, Opera, or any other.

2. Navigate to an IP Checking Website:

There are numerous online services designed to instantly display your public IP address. Here are some reputable options:

whatismyip.com: A widely-used platform offering information on IP addresses and more.

ipchicken.com: A straightforward service that provides your IP address in large, easy-to-read numbers.

icanhazip.com: A minimalistic site; when accessed, it immediately displays your IP.

3. Read Your IP Address:

Upon loading any of these sites, your public IP address should be prominently displayed. Note that this IP represents your current internet connection, provided by your ISP (Internet Service Provider).

Points to Remember:

Your public IP address is different from your local IP. The former is how external servers see you, while the latter is your address within your home/business network.

Some users may be behind VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) or proxies. In such cases, these sites will show the IP of the VPN or proxy, not your home/business IP.

Your public IP may change unless you've opted for a static IP with your ISP.
